Frequently Asked Questions: Neurotoxin

  • How Does Neurotoxin Work?

Neurotoxin blocks cholinergic transmission at the neuromuscular junction by inhibiting the  release of acetylcholine (ACH) from peripheral nerve endings. It binds to cholinergic  nerve terminals through translocation of the light chain part of the molecule into cytosol  at the nerve terminal, and enzymatic cleaves to the SNAP25 protein needed for the  release of ACH and muscle contraction (appearance of wrinkles).

Neurotoxin stays in the area where injected with a small diffusion across the muscle that  relaxes the muscle that through contraction forms wrinkles in various facial areas. It has  the potential to migrate from the area so proper placement is needed and a thorough  knowledge of facial anatomy to fully understand and utilize the product effectively. The  results with neurotoxon are evident in 5-10 days after the injection and will continue to  effectively treat the area for up to 14 weeks.

  • How Long Does The Procedure Take?

Typically you can expect the neurotoxon injecatbles to work for at least 3-4 months, at which time you can schedule a follow up appointment to keep the wrinkles from appearing again.

  • How Long is The Downtime After The Treatment?

Neurotoxin is fantastic becuase there is no downtime. You can return to normal activities immediatley.  Often Neurotoxin injections will not even leave a mark. Some small brusiing may occur but will not be lasting.

  • Will I always have to have the same number of units injected?

With continuous and timely repeat of injections the muscles lose memory, so you will eventually only need â…“ of the units that you started with.

  • How long does it take to see results?

Results typically take 5-7 days to start to seeing improvements in the appearance of dynamic wrinkles and will continue to get better with time. Some patients start to notice results the next day.

Lips

Lips are one of the hottest topics in aesthetics right now. Lip  treatments can be used to enhance your natural shape, correct  asymmetries and add desired fullness to your lips.

Frequently Asked Questions: Lip Treatments

  • What are lip fillers?

The modern approach to lip enhancement began in 2003 with the  FDA approval of Restylane, the first hyaluronic acid filler, which is  a substance that naturally occurs in the human body. Today, most  dermal filler procedures are performed with products that use synthesized versions of hyaluronic acid and advanced for specific  uses, such as Restylane,  Juvéderm, and Versa Lips  which are designed specifically for use in and around the lips. Fillers might be a good option if you would like:

    • more volume in the upper and/or lower lip
    • to improve the appearance of vertical lip lines
    • to improve overall shape and symmetry of your lips
    • a longer-lasting lip enhancement (6-12 months)
  • What treatments are available to enhance my lips?

Lip fillers are a popular option. We also offer a lip flip* by injecting  neurotoxin into the lip line.

  • When will I see results from a lip filler treatment?

When you first leave the treatment room you’ll experience some  minor swelling and will continue to see changes day to day but it  will take a few weeks to see your full results. In clinical studies,  the results of Restylane Silk® lasted approximately 6 months  following treatment.

  • How can I help achieve the best results from my lip enhancements?

First, selecting a practitioner you trust. Second, trusting your  injector’s recommended approach. Also following a few rules  including: limiting alcohol consumption, avoiding intense workouts  for a few days after your appointment, and avoiding blood  thinners such as aspirin, NSAIDS, fish oil, etc.

  • How long do lip fillers last?

Lip fillers are FDA approved for 1 year, but clients commonly get  touch ups at 6-month intervals for best results. Your injector is in  the best position to advise on the frequency of maintenance  injections.

  • How much is a lip filler treatment?

The typical lip filler treatment averages $550-$800 per syringe. The  actual cost will depend upon your aesthetic goals and your  injector’s recommendation.

  • Can lip enhancements be reversed?

Yes. If you decide you want to return to your natural lips,  hyaluronic acid-based fillers can also be removed using  hyaluronidase, an enzyme that dissolves the filler.

  • Who performs lip filler treatments?

All of our non-surgical cosmetic procedures are ONLY treated by  medical professionals, including Nurse Practitioners and  Registered Nurses.

  • What is a lip flip?

A lip flip* involves just a few quick injections of neurotoxin to help the upper lip relax and roll slightly upward,  allowing more of the upper lip to be visible. It is not a replacement  for lip filler but it is often used as an alternative for patients  seeking a more subtle enhancement. Ask your nurse injector if  you are a candidate for this service.

  • How much does a TOX LIP FLIP cost?

Achieve subtle pout-magnification by flipping out the lip line and  rolling the lip gently outward to give the appearance of a fuller  pout.

A lip flip costs about $120 per treatment.

*The actual cost will depend upon the amount of product recommended  by your injector to achieve your desired outcome.

Typically reserved for special cases and clients whom had lip filler  before.

  • When will I see results from a lip flip?

Most patients notice the effects within a few days of treatment,  with full results in about 7-10 days and lasting less than three  months.

Minimize Wrinkles, Lines, & Folds

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid (HA) or poly-L-lactic acid-based injectables that work to fill in and minimize the appearance of wrinkles, lines, and folds in addition to enhancing facial contours, replacing lost volume due to aging, or creates plumper lips for a perfect desired pout.   Dermal Fillers are injectable gels that aim at combating your body’s natural aging process and plumping up skin. These treatments temporarily smooth out fine lines, wrinkles, and imperfections of the skin. At The Med Spot, we use advanced technology to improve the appearance of thin skin with an effective, professional treatment plan for the best dermal fillers in that will revamp your skin for a longer period of time.

As time passes, natural aging causes us to lose the subcutaneous fat that helps us appear more youthful. Our facial muscles become more prominent under the skin, so signs of aging such as smile lines and crow’s feet start to appear. Other factors that cause the effects of aging on the skin include sun exposure, genetics, and your specific lifestyle.

That’s where dermal fillers come in. After a quick procedure, you’ll reverse the signs of aging to make you appear years younger! If you have any of these issues, dermal fillers in are the perfect solution for you:

  • Facial Wrinkles & Folds

  • Thin Lips

  • Sagging Skin

  • Aging Hands

  • Indented Scars

  • Facial Hollowness

Frequently Asked Questions: Dermal Fillers

  • Are Dermal Fillers and Botox the same?

Many people believe that dermal fillers are the same as Botox or Dysport. The truth is, fillers are not a neurotoxin. Botox freezes the muscles to stop them from creating fine lines, wrinkles, and other visible signs of aging. On the other hand, dermal fillers are designed to fill in wrinkles. As we age, our bodies stop producing as much collagen and elastin, causing our skin to lose its elasticity and plumpness. Usually this begins to happen as early as 25!

Fortunately, dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid, which promotes collagen and elastin production. With your new smooth, filled-out skin, you’ll walk out of our office looking younger than you have in years!

  • What are the side effects of Dermal Fillers?

Because filler injections are minimally invasive, side effects aren’t very common. A few side effects of dermal fillers we’ve seen in the past include reactions to the needle/injection sites in general, including redness, itching, pimples, and swelling. None of these should be a cause of concern and are completely normal.

Our medical professionals will thoroughly cover all of this information with you before you receive your injections. We care about your needs first, and we want to make sure that your results are exactly what you’re looking for.

  • What are the Benefits of Dermal Fillers?

    • Same Day Procedure: Dermal fillers are painless procedure performed by medical professionals that show results immediately. Dermal fillers are noninvasive procedures that can restore your youth without having to wait weeks of recovery time. The Med Spot team will in and out in less than an hour with little to minimal recovery time.
    • Results: Dermal fillers work to reverse the signs of your skin’s natural aging process, allowing your skin to look refreshed and youthful again. Dermal fillers are designed to fill any lines, wrinkles, or depressed scars, and to enhance cheeks and lips.
  • What can I expect when receiving Dermal Fillers?

    Before the Procedure:

Before getting dermal fillers at The Med Spot, you’ll meet with us for a free consultation. The consultation can be done immediately prior to receiving your dermal filler if you chose. During the consultation we’ll speak with you about what your goals are and the problem areas you want to improve. A specialist will examine your skin, including the texture, thickness, elasticity, and amount of wrinkling. This will help us understand where to inject your dermal fillers.

You’ll want to let us know about your medical background, especially if you’ve had injections done within the past four months. This ensures that we are fully aware of your medical needs so that the procedure is done safely and properly. If you take blood thinners, you may want to stop taking them several days before you receive dermal fillers to reduce the amount of bruising and bleeding. It’s also best to avoid alcohol at least a week before your procedure.

Prior to the procedure one of our medical professional with discuss options for numbing the area to find a solution that works best for you. Most times our clients chose a topical numbing agent that will be left on the area for 15-30 mins. When it’s time for your dermal filler procedure, we’ll have you slightly raised on an exam table. We want to make sure you’re as relaxed and comfortable as possible. Then use a non-alcohol solution to clean the specified area.

Although the injections may feel like a quick prick. Based on the amount of injections needed, the process can take around 30 to 40 minutes. At The Med Spot, our professionals will make the procedure simple and easy, so you can rest easy knowing that we have you taken care of.

    After the Procedure:

Once your procedure is done, you’re free to go and enjoy the rest of the day.

The great thing about dermal fillers is that there’s little to no recovery time.  It’s important to note that you’ll want to avoid taking aspirin, such as ibuprofen, after your procedure. Doing so could cause additional bruising that may be a cause of concern.

One of the best things you can do is stay hydrated. Hyaluronic acid binds to water, so the more hydrated you are, the more youthful you’ll appear.

If you want to maintain your wrinkle-free look, don’t go more than six months - twelve months between your dermal filler procedures. After about two years on this regular schedule, most of our clients find that they need less fillers to achieve the same look!

  • How long does Dermal Filler last?

The effects of fillers typically last 6-18 months, depending on the product used and the individual.

Frequently Asked Questions: Teeth Whitening

  • Is DaVinci Teeth Whitening for everyone?

The DaVinci Teeth Whitening System provides dramatic results for  anyone who wants to whiten their teeth. This includes people with  teeth that have been stained by substances such as coffee, tea, soda, smoking, etc. It will also lighten teeth stained by tetracycline, speckled  by fluoride, or hereditary discoloration.

  • Should I consider DaVinci Teeth Whitening?

Studies have shown that people with whiter teeth look younger and  that there is correlation between high self esteem and a bright, confident smile.

  • How white will my teeth get?

After whitening with the DaVinci Teeth Whitening System, teeth  shades brighten an average of five to 14 shades on the Teeth Shade  Card. Although individual results will depend on how discolored the  teeth were originally, the end result will be brighter, shiny teeth.  Remember,  everyone's teeth are different and your teeth will only go as white as your teeth will go. Everyone's teeth have a stopping point.

  • How long with the whitening last?

This varies from person to person and depends on your diet and  lifestyle, but the effects usually last for one to three years with proper maintenance. Periodic touch-up treatments are recommended for  customers who frequently consume products such as coffee, dark  soda, tea, red wine, tomatoes sauce or other staining products such  as tobacco.

  • Is the DaVinci Teeth Whitening safe?

Yes, our products are made in our USA laboratories and are FDA  compliant. Scientific research has shown that the active ingredients in  the DaVinci Teeth Whitening Gels are safe and effective for cosmetic  teeth whitening. The DaVinci Teeth Whitening Gel does not change or  damage the structure of the teeth; it merely lifts and removes the  stains, making your teeth brighter.

  • How long does a whitening session take?

One whitening session takes 15 minutes to complete. Depending on  the level of discoloration of your teeth you may choose a 2nd 20  minute session. Start to finish your whitening session will take 15 – 45  minutes. It takes no longer than the time it would for you to have a  haircut or a facial - it is that simple!

  • What is the difference between DaVinci Teeth Whitening and teeth whitening performed in the dental office?

The DaVinci Teeth Whitening System uses the same technology used  by other teeth whitening providers for in-office whitening and gives you  great results. However, our process has been simplified so that you  can administer the process yourself using our cosmetic whitening gel  specially developed for the use with the LED light. Designed with the  comfort and safety of the customer in mind; our process is safe,  gentle, and produces superior results over other teeth whitening  options.

  • Does it hurt?

Most clients experience no sensitivity during or after the session. A  very small percentage of clients may feel some sensitivity on the teeth  or soft tissues, especially if they consume very cold or hot foods or  drinks within two hours after the treatment. Therefore it is  recommended that clients avoid consuming extremely hot or cold food  or beverages for the first two hours following the treatment. Any  sensitivity is usually gone within 24 hours.

  • Will DaVinci Teeth Whitening work on crowns, fillings, veneers, and bridges (composite materials)?

DaVinci teeth whitening will remove staining from composite materials  but will not whiten the composite materials beyond the original color of  the material used. DaVinci teeth whitening works well if your natural  teeth are darker than the composite materials original color. Teeth  whitening is a good option if you plan to replace the crown or filling  after your whitening treatment. DaVinci Teeth Whitening will not  damage or hurt the composite material.

    • Platelet-rich Plasma: PRP is a solution made from your blood. We spin the blood in a centrifuge until a highly concentrated solution of plasma and platelets remain. PRP contains growth factors that promote blood clotting and proteins that promote cellular growth.
    • Hyaluronic Acid: Your skin naturally contains hyaluronic acid, which works to make your skin plumper and more full. The levels as we age naturally decrease, so this a great way to restore a more youthful appearance. For Aquagold we can even add hyaluronic acid filler to the mixture for a longer lasting hydration
    • Botox: We can add a micro dose of both to help decrease sebum production, pore size, and give your skin a glass like appearance.
    • Vitamin Cocktail: B vitamins, vitamin c, Vitamin E, and ferric acid can all help improve skin texture, appearance, and pigmentation issues. Adding this to your treatment can help address issues like hyperpigmentation.

Frequently Asked Questions: Microneedling with PRP

  • What is PRP?

PRP is short for platelet-rich plasma, which is entirely natural because it comes from your own blood. Your provider injects your plasma, which is rich in growth factors, into the same areas where the tiny pinholes were made during the microneedling process. The regenerative properties of PRP perfectly complement the collagen induction qualities of microneedling. The result is firmer, smoother skin.

  • Am I a candidate for microneedling with PRP?

Almost every adult can benefit from the skin tightening and rejuvenating effects of microneedling and PRP. Since there are minimal risks and no downtime, you can get microneedling and PRP at any age. It works the same for all skin types and skin colors, too, giving it universal appeal. At your consultation, your provider takes a close look at your medical history and skin profile to ensure that you’re a good candidate for the procedure.

  • What are the Benefits of micro needling using PRP?

In addition to the vast improvements in your skin, microneedling has many other benefits that make it a go-to choice for facial rejuvenation:

    • A quick, 30-minute, in-office procedure
    • No downtime
    • Nonsurgical
    • Except for a little redness and swelling, there are no side effects associated with microneedling.

Hair Loss Treatment with PRP

Hair Restoration with PRP is a state of the art, non surgical, totally natural, alternative medical procedure used for the treatment of hair thinning and hair loss. This minimally invasive procedure harnesses the body’s own amazing healing and regenerative properties to stimulate hair follicles and improve hair growth. It works great for women and men.

For those looking to treat hair loss without going under the knife, our team at The Med Spot performs a non-surgical hair restoration treatment that stands above the rest: platelet rich plasma.

The biggest bonus? Platelet rich plasma (PRP) comes from your own body, so you don’t have to worry about rejecting the treatment or having an allergic reaction.

Frequently Asked Questions: Hair Loss & Restoration

  • Okay, so what is PRP?

PRP is one of the most advanced, natural ways to regenerate and accelerate tissue repair. It’s produced by your own blood, which is composed of plasma and blood cells. Plasma is the liquid that circulates blood cells, and within plasma are platelets that cause the blood clots that help with wound healing. If you’ve ever noticed that yellow goo from a healing scab—that’s platelet rich plasma.

Other than fast healing, PRP has major growth factors that can enhance the functions of other cells it comes in contact with. The great thing about PRP is that it can be isolated from your blood and injected into other parts of your body, giving you tons of restoration benefits. As a result, wherever PRP works its magic, cellular growth, formation of new blood vessels, and collagen production follows.

Because of this, medical professionals use PRP across different medical fields, including dermatology, sports medicine, orthopedics, and yes, even for hair restoration.

  • What is Hair Restoration with PRP?

Hair Restoration with PRP is a quick, minimally invasive in office procedure where PRP and growth factors are delivered directly into the scalp. A small amount of blood is drawn and a processed in a special centrifuge. The processing separates the platelets from the blood. Numbing cream is applied the scalp. Through a series of injections with a small needle, the nutrient rich PRP is delivered directly into the scalp to rejuvenate the tissue, make new collagen, new blood vessels, new fatty tissue. The result... hair follicles are nourished and stimulated which lead to hair growth.

  • Is Hair Restoration with PRP safe?

Hair Restoration with PRP is very safe. Because we are using the PRP derived form your own blood there is no risk of allergic reaction.

  • How soon will I see results from PRP for hair loss?

In general, most patients see results after their second treatment or later, due to the nature of hair growth cycles. PRP Hair Restoration therapy works best as a series of treatments, usually spaced a couple of months apart. Patients usually experience some hair shedding before this, which usually indicates that the hair replacing it will be thicker and longer. Standardized photos will be taken before each PRP Hair Restoration treatment so that improvement can be tracked.

  • What is the science of PRP and how does it work?

PRP, or platelet rich plasma, essentially contains platelets that are key to stimulating hair follicles to generate hair growth. They mainly target the Dermal Papilla, which is a component of the hair follicle. The platelets, when used to regenerate hair growth within follicles, promote healing and the formation of new cell growth. In addition, the platelets also accelerate the rate and degree of regeneration so that you can expect to see results in a timely manner. PRP is an ideal component of hair restoration because it is highly effective in stimulating inactive hair follicles, causing them to revert to the growth phase.

  • How does PRP compare to other treatments?

Unlike other hair restoration treatments, PRP comes from your own body, making it more natural than its alternatives. As of now, the main alternatives for PRP are medications and hair transplant surgery.

  • How does the Hair Restoration with PRP work?

Hair Restoration with PRP is a cutting edge procedure that uses the body’s own natural healing agents, PRP and growth factors that are derived from your own blood. The platelet rich plasma contained in your blood contains growth factors which stimulate the production of collagen and tissue regeneration and importantly for the scalp those growth factors stimulate the hair follicle’s growth. The healing properties of PRP have been well studied, established and used extensively in other medical procedures for years.

  • What are the benefits of Hair Restoration with PRP?

    • Nonsurgical Therapeutic Option
    • Totally Natural
    • Effective Results
    • Male Pattern Hair Loss – Especially in the Early Stages of Balding
    • Female Pattern Hair Loss – at All Stages of Hair Loss

  • Is PRP safe?

In terms of the safety of this product, PRP has been the topic of medical literature from both the United States and Europe. Not only is the product heralded as a revolutionary way to stimulate and restore hair growth, but it is also one of the safest cosmetic hair growth options on the market today.

While there is a prevalent opinion of PRP and its benefits within medical literature.. it is a very promising and realistic option for those that are grappling with hair loss.

  • How much does Hair loss Treatment with PRP cost?

One session costs $530. The Med Spot has a current offer for sessions for $1100. Most clients see the best results with 3-4 treatments.

  • Is PRP covered by Insurance?

PRP is not covered by insurance.

  • Do PRP injections hurt?

There may be some sensitivity. However, most physicians utilize effective anesthetic solutions, such as cold ambient air or a topical analgesic to minimize any potential discomfort. Talk to your physicians about the right option for you.

  • What about prescription medications for hairloss?

There are only two FDA-approved medications to treat hair loss: finasteride and minoxidil. Steer clear of any other medication that claims to treat balding or thinning hair. For one, they probably won’t work, and secondly, they could do more harm than good.

With both finasteride and minoxidil, you have to take them on a regular basis, and results tend to be inconsistent. Plus, let’s talk about side effects for a moment. Side effects of minoxidil include dryness and itchy scalp, which may lead to itchiness and redness. Finasteride can cause sexual dysfunction in men.

  • What about hair transplant surgery for hair loss?

Getting a hair transplant is an effective way to treat hair loss, but it’s also an invasive surgery. During the procedure, a doctor will cut your scalp to implant new hair, meaning you can for sure expect downtime. Plus, most doctors will only perform a hair transplant on severely balding patients. People with thinning hair or minor patches aren’t usually a good candidate.

On the other hand PRP for hair loss only comes with 0 to 5 days of downtime, and this type of hair restoration works for a variety of people, no matter the severity.

  • I’m a women with thinning hair will PRP work for me?

PRP works best on the beginning signs of hair loss like thinning. With treatment, PRP can stimulate new growth, leading to the appearance of thicker, more luscious hair.

  • What can I expect when getting PRP for hair loss?

The PRP process is fairly quick, easy, and comes with minimal pain. Keep in mind that before you go to an appointment, avoid taking NSAIDS (Ibuprofen, Aleve, Motrin, Naproxen, etc.) You’ll also want to avoid certain nutritional supplements such as vitamin E, vitamin A, flax oil, garlic, turmeric, and other anti-inflammatory substances. If you can, stay away from alcohol and tobacco for a week before getting hair restoration.

    Step One: Draw blood

When you come in for your appointment, the first thing your provider will do is draw your blood. Remember, platelet-rich plasma is part of your blood. You feel a slight prick from the needle, but for most people there’s no pain.

    Step Two: Isolate the PRP

Next, it’s time to isolate the PRP from your blood. This is done with a machine called a centrifuge. Blood runs through the centrifuge, effectively separating PRP from red blood cells.

    Step Three: Inject the PRP

Once separated, your provider will transfer the PRP into syringes to inject it into your scalp. The amount of injections along with where you’ll get them depends on your specific needs.

As PRP replenishes your scalp with growth factors, you’ll soon notice fuller, thicker hair that is 100% your own.

Frequently Asked Questions: Kybella

  • What is KYBELLA®?

KYBELLA® (deoxycholic acid) injection is the first and  only FDA-approved injectable treatment that is used in  adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called,  “double chin.”

  • How does KYBELLA® work?

The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is deoxycholic  acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that  aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.

When injected into the fat beneath your chin,  KYBELLA® causes the destruction of fat cells. Once  destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.

  • Is KYBELLA® right for me?

If you’re bothered by submental fullness, or double  chin, ask your doctor about KYBELLA®. How many  people have been treated with KYBELLA®?

KYBELLA® has been the focus of a global clinical  development program involving over 20 clinical  studies with more than 2,600 patients worldwide, of  which over 1,600 have been treated with KYBELLA®.

  • Will I experience any side effects?

The most common side effects are swelling, bruising,  pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness  around the treatment area.

  • How much is Kybella?

Kybella cost $600 per vial normally 2 vials per session.  The best results are achieved in 2-4 treatments.

  • How many treatments will I need?

You and your doctor will customize your KYBELLA®  treatment regimen, including how many treatments  you need, based on your desired chin profile. Many  patients experience visible results in 2 to 4 treatment  sessions.

During these sessions, your medical  provider will administer KYBELLA® into the fat under  your chin using multiple injections. Up to 6 treatment  sessions may be administered spaced no less than  one month apart.

  • How long will the results last?

When injected into the fat under your chin,  KYBELLA®causes the destruction of fat cells. Once  your fat cell are destroyed, those cells cannot store or  accumulate fat. After your desired aesthetic response  is achieved, re-treatment with KYBELLA® is not  expected.

  • How is Kybella administered?

Multiple small injections depending on the amount of fat you have under your chin & your desired profile.

Number of treatments vary patient to patient

  • Kybella can improve the appearance of moderate to  severe convexity or fullness associated with submental fat (double chin) in adults.
  • Kybella is currently the only FDA-approved treatment  used on the chin.
  • Kybella works by dissolving the cell wall of the fat  cells and is removed by your natural body processes.
  • Kybella injections takes less than 15 minutes.
  • Kybella should only be administered by a well-trained  medical healthcare profession.
  • Kybella is not a treatment for excess skin or extreme  fat deposits on the entire neck. Appropriate patients  are those with isolated fat under the chin and without  sagging skin.

Frequently Asked Questions: Thread Lift

  • What is the PDO Thread Lift?

PDO Thread Lift is one of the most popular and highly effective non surgical means to lift & tighten loose, sagging skin tissues. It is  performed through the use of specialized threads made up of  Polydioxanone (PDO), which instantly works to tighten skin for a  redefined and younger looking appearance. The most common areas to  lift are the Cheek or Jowls, Neck and Brows. This is a non-surgical  remedy that is changing what it means to get a “face lift.”

The threads used in this procedure are FDA-approved for the correction of aging  signs in common problem areas. They work beneath the surface of skin  to lift and reposition sagging tissue and skin with safety and precision in  mind. This is effective at creating a source of support for loose tissue  and repositions sagging skin. If you are like many of our patients  struggling with facial volume loss, the revolutionary PDO thread lift  could benefit you.

  • How Does it Work?

During treatment, specially designed PDO threads are used. These FDA approved sutures are recognized as one of the safest to be used within  the body as the PDO material does not create scar tissue. During the  procedure, the threads are gently inserted into precise areas beneath the  skin. The skin is then tightened and re-positioned for a more youthful  appearance. Once the threads are in place, your skin gently reacts to the  threads on a cellular level by encouraging restoration and collagen  production. The entire procedure takes less than 30 minutes to perform  and local anesthetic is used to make it very comfortable.

  • What are the results?

Following treatment, you may experience slight discomfort – which can  be managed with over-the-counter pain reducers. You will instantly  notice results from your PDO thread lift, but it will continue to improve  for 2-3 months following your procedure.

The results from treatment last  longer than the life of the threads. However, continued treatments may  be suggested in order to maintain optimal results. With this revitalizing  remedy, you can say goodbye to aged skin, and hello to a youthful and  vibrant complexion.

Chemical Peel & Facial

VI Peel

VI Peel is a chemical peel that addresses fine lines and wrinkles, acne and acne scarring, hyperpigmentation due to sun damage and melasma, and promotes overall smoother skin texture by refining pores, controlling oil, and stimulating collagen production. All this with minimal downtime and discomfort. Described by its founders as a “Great first-time peel for all age groups who want fresh, healthy, radiant skin,” the VI Peel seems to be a fix-all for a variety of skin types and conditions.

The secret? It all comes down to the synergistic blend of active ingredients including trichloroacetic acid (TCA), retinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, vitamin C, and a blend of minerals. All have wonderful benefits, like improving texture and tone, rejuvenating the skin, and helping to prevent further damage. It also contains pain-numbing ingredients to lessen the burning sensation. The Vi Peel is less about actually making the skin peel and more about infusing it with ingredients that will have beneficial effects.

The VI Peel is made up of a blend of ingredients that include:

  • trichloroacetic acid (TCA) (10 to 12 percent)
  • phenol (10 to 12 percent)
  • salicylic acid (10 to 12 percent)
  • vitamin C (4 percent)
  • tretinoin (0.1 to 0.4 percent)

VI Peels are gentle enough that they can safely be used on your face, chest, eyelids, hands, and back.

Frequently Asked Questions: VI Peel

  • What are the Benefits of the VI Peel?

There are five different versions of the VI Peel available, each tailored to a specific concern; however, the overall benefits include:

    • Reducing acne and surface acne scars: The VI Peel packs a one-two punch for those afflicted with acne, helping treat symptoms while lessening the scars it can leave behind. It smoothes skin texture, brightens dark areas, soothes inflammation, and increases collagen to plump depressed or pitted skin. All scars respond to the VI Peel differently, and multiple sessions or combination treatment may be necessary.
    • Diminishing sun spots and hyperpigmentation: The synergistic blend of ingredients in the VI Peel is ideal for brightening skin, diminishing sunspots, and leaving the complexion with a refreshing glow.
    • Smoothing over fine lines and wrinkles: The combination of acids, antioxidants, and exfoliants penetrates skin deeply, causing, a resurfacing process that stimulates new cell production including collagen and elastin for a smoother, firmer, more youthful appearance.”

While the original VI Peel covers all the above bases, there are other versions deliver more intense, specialized treatments, such as the VI Peel Purify Precision Plus, used on acne-prone skin and acne scarring. Once you schedule your VI Peel consultation, your Medical Provider will help you decide which version of the VI Peel is most suitable for your needs.

  • What are the active ingredients in a VI Peel?

The VI Peel is a unique blend of 5 acids designed to target multiple conditions.

    Retinoic Acid

Retinoid acid is a derivative of vitamin A. It helps to regulate growth and differentiation of skin cells, resulting in a reduction in acne, inflammation, and oil production. It’s also where the Vi Peel’s anti-aging benefits come in.

    Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA)

The combination of TCA and phenol creates a controlled injury of the skin, leading to regeneration and resulting in increased collagen and elastin production. TCA clears away dead skin cells to reveal the new skin layers below to treat concerns like skin discoloration, scarring, and wrinkles.

    Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid prevents inflammation by killing bacteria, suppresses sebum production and cleansing the pores.

    Phenol

This is the secret weapon that numbs the skin allowing for a painless application and is often used to treat deeper concerns like sun damage, pigmentation, and facial lines.

    Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C)

Vitamin C is included in the VI Peel as “a powerful antioxidant that counters some of the damaging effects of the sun and pollution, reducing pigmentation and improving the appearance of the skin. It also has collagen-boosting properties which is KEY in plumping the skin and smoothing over wrinkles.

  • What can I expect during a Vi Peel?

A VI Peel only takes about 30 minutes and is usually painless. It uses a blend of ingredients to break down your top layer of skin and reveal healthy skin underneath. The peel is considered non-invasive, and most patients agree that it's painless. Some patients experience mild tingling like pins and needles.

Your exact procedure may differ slightly, but here’s what you can generally expect:

    1. The practitioner will cleanse your skin to remove dirt and oil.
    2. They will then apply the VI Peel solution in two layers.
    3. You may experience some numbness or tingling once the first layer is applied.
    4. Once the second layer is applied, your skin will “frost,” or turn white.
    5. About 4 to 6 hours later, you’ll wash off the peel.
    6. Your skin will start peeling about 3 days after the procedure.
  • Can I Combine My Peel with Other Treatments?

For wow results, VI Peels are often alternated with micro-needling, botox and fillers.  Micro-needling breaks pigment down and the VI Peel lifts it.  It is recommended patients wait at least 14 days after the peel before undergoing a micro-needling treatment.  Fillers and Botox are also regularly combined with the VI Peel and can be done in the same visit leaving the VI Peel to improve fine lines, tighten the skin and address texture and pigmentation.

Ask us about our package deals!

  • How long do the results last?

a single treatment will last easily 3 or 4 months, after which you will need to get another treatment. Do keep in mind though, a single treatment may only last this long as you follow the aftercare instructions provided.

  • What is the VI Peel aftercare?

About 4 to 6 hours after your procedure, and at least an hour before bed, you should wash off the peel using a mild cleanser and water. Your skin will likely start to peel 3 days after treatment.

You can take care of your skin after your procedure by:

    • avoiding applying any creams or lotions until you wash off your peel
    • applying the “Post Peel Protectant” given to you after your procedure two to four times per day
    • applying moisturizer frequently until you’re done peeling
    • avoiding direct sunlight when your skin is peeling and making sure you wear sunscreen whenever you go outside
  • What are the potential side effects of a VI Peel?

Overall, VI Peels are generally tolerated well and the side effects tend to be minimal. As we said, skin will peel—a lot—afterward.  Patients must understand the importance of resisting the urge to pick or peel away at the skin to avoid scarring. This is especially important for those with darker skin tones. Some patients might experience some skin discoloration around three days after treatment, though it dissipates independently.

  • How often should you get a VI Peel?

The frequency that you should get a VI Peel depends on your budget and the specific skin condition you’re trying to treat. Peels should be at least 4 to 6 weeks between treatments to see continuous results.

  • How much does a VI Peel cost?

The average price of a VI Peel tends to hover between $250-$350 a session; however, the final cost depends on how many treatments you are recommended based on your skincare goals. If you're looking for an overall refresh that’s a few steps above what you can get at home, then one VI Peel session may be all you need. Depending on the level of advancement of your skin concern, it can take three-to-four sessions to achieve the desired outcome.

  • Is a VI Peel safe during pregnancy?

If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you should speak with a doctor before getting a VI peel. Due to a lack of research, chemical peels that contain TCA or salicylic acid are not recommended while pregnant.

  • Can I wear makeup after the Vi Peel?

While the long term goal is to eliminate the need for makeup, it may be worn at any time after the peel solution has dried completely (two hours or more post peel).

  • Does the Vi Peel make the skin thinner?

No. By sloughing off the old skin and forcing the body to recreate new skin at a faster rate in a sequence faster than its own rate, the skin actually thickens, stimulating the underlying structure to make more collagen and elastin.

  • Will my skin be more sensitive after the Vi Peel?

The skin will be more sensitive during the peeling process itself. You may experience up to four days of sensitivity until PH of the skin is replenished.

  • Will the Vi Peel tighten neck skin?

The skin on the neck responds well. The Vi Peel has proven to help improve texture and quality with gradual softening of the lines and some tightening effects. The peeling process and results are different from the face.

  • What other areas can the Vi Peel be performed on?

The neck, arms, hands and chest all respond well to a Vi Peel.

  • Can I go in the sun after the Vi Peel?

Sun exposure should be limited and SPF 30+should be used liberally. However, the Vi Peel was created to be practical. The only days where exposure to the sun should be seriously avoided are days three and four, when the skin is peeling, to avoid uneven exposure. After that, you can enjoy moderate sun exposure, continuing regular skin care maintenance and daily sun protection.

  • What about exercise after the Vi Peel?

Again, the Vi Peel was created to be practical. The solution must be left on the skin for two hours prior to exercising, washing it off immediately before commencing exercise. Please avoid heavy sweating for the first few days after the peel.

  • Can cold sore sufferers have a Vi Peel?

Of course. In some cases, the physician may recommend premedication prior to the peel. If you break out with a sudden cold sore the day of the peel, often the Vi Peel will eliminate the sore and medication may be started concomitantly.

  • Are teenage acne sufferers too young for the Vi Peel and would it help their acne?

The peel is excellent for both adult and adolescent acne. We have effectively peeled acne patients as young as twelve years old. Results are quick and very impressive. Combined with a daily skin regimen, almost all acne cases can be successfully managed. Your provider has access to advanced protocols. Please note that treating acne scars will require a series of peels.
